What are your plans for the veggie garden?

You've made a start and it looks good. Get started with what you can then keep adding to it and you will get some good vegetables. I used to let my chickens on the plot in the winter to clean out the ground.

thanks Lindak, this photo was a month ago. I will be writing a new blog this weekend and updating photos, you will see the changes. Like you said we are just adding as we go, seems to be taking shape.
(I cant keep the chickens off the plot for love nor money!!)

The first veggies I grew were the easiest ones to give me confidence. Runner beans, courgettes, broad beans, lettuce, radishes, cress. I only started growing my own 3 years ago, the learning never stops of course. Its so rewarding and delicious growing your own. Have fun and enjoy :-)

Thanks Nor-folk- we have put lots of relatively easy veg in starting with radish and through to lettuce onions carrots etc. My spuds did not arrive from the internet so a bit dissappointed but my sister has just given us some ready to plant to get us going! Also put lots of herbs in and some cumin seeds planted from my spice jar have just sprouted!

Well done getting your chickens by the way I thought your blog on this was great! We have 2 little chucks which is enough of a handful for us at the moment- they were from a local free range chicken lady who was kind enough to let us have 2 of her flock. If we did get some more I think we might do a rescue. I have a knitting pattern for little jumpers for bedraggled chicks let me know if you would like it - or even one knitted!! Karin ( I love knitting!)

a couple of chickens is all you need to be self sufficient with eggs so enjoy. If you like knitting, visit www.littlehenrescue.co.uk, they would welcome jackets, its the poorly, almost bald ones that need the jumpers, they keep them in their special care centre until ready to be rehomed. my chucks, with the weather being warmer, dont need jackets as most of their feathers have grown, they just have the odd bald patch and a bad mental state which I hope will cure with time. Thanks for the offer :-) x
