California Fan Palm is native to the California Deserts. They are very common in areas of the desert. The largest Native Palm grove in the United States is in the California Desert.

beautiful trees... or are they trees, actually? Just watched an old fav. movie..."it's buried under a big Dubyuh!" in Santa Rosita! lol. the big dubyuh was a planting of California Fan Palm trees!!
