Winter Sunlight

Winter Sunlight

I caught this container ship in the Straits in a winter sun..a couple of years ago..this is about 5 minutes from my home...I drove home and watched it pass through the inlet from my living room.

It does look as though it travels the world....lots of Freighters come through to the ports in Seattle.

Thanks for the comments on the shot.."Weeds",the light is what attracted your brother to the grasses, I had my camera out, he was always setting up shots for me to take... and then the Freighter showed up too..it worked out well....we raced the freighter home ...it was a fun shot to take that day and has a good memory with it. You and he have always understood light so well..he taught me a lot about photography.

Great contrast, Catfinch. Wonderful sky, and then the sun just catching the grasses and the ship.

This ship is painted so beautifully. Seems like a lot of them are just red and black. Even the containers on this one are glowing in the sun.

My brother would have said, "Look at that ship, its got a bone in it's teeth!" (Meaning it was underway and pushing the waves ahead of it making white "bone" of water on it's prow.
Yes he had a real talent for photography, he loved his camera and computers! I'm afraid that I don't compare to him photography-wise, I just take 50 pictures and pick out the best one. LOL

This is not from my window...but from a beach not far away...I was able to drive home and see the ship pass through the inlet from my living room windows...
At the time this shot was taken...Weeds'.. we had driven out to Ft. Worden on Christmas day together...we always took Christmas day drives. He just said something like "there"..I saw what he was saying there about ....I pointed and shot...after so long of us discussing the thumb and finger picture framing..LOL..we both understood without much speaking...I did the same for him after a time too...I was the photgrapher on most of our vacations and he was the director...LOL...he was the subject a lot too..I have some great shots of him...so glad I got them.
