14 Blooms

14 Blooms

A photo of each of my roses. One will probably come out, another…it will stay at least one more year but I’m not loving it so far. If you had to take out 2, which would you remove?

So many nice roses Karen.
I would definitely not get rid off the "13" one....the red with traditional rose shape.

Yup, that’s one for the bin. It’s a ground cover rose, but where it is growing is far too dry for it and hence it (all six of it) are struggling. I need something about 2feet high, in an orange/ peach hue to compliment the lavender. It has to be able to cope with dry conditions though. Any suggestions?

I cannot grow roses because of deer. They love them.
I have a friend which has a large Rose garden and I always liked her little "Rose Paprika". I think it would go well with lavender.
My favorite rose is "Just Joey"..... apricot-orange color, but it is a Hybrid Tea , so taller.Very popular here....originated in England.

I love all roses, but maybe the last but one on my right.

That’s the one Rose! :) I am going to replace with a peachy Phygelius. It’s too dry there for roses.

Karen, you have some very pretty Roses in your collection but I'm afraid both of the reds would have to go.

I have no idea why I dislike red Roses, always have done, so I'm not going to keep one of the J. Parker triple offer ones as it is just too vivid for me.

No, I get it though Shirley. The ground cover reds are already out. I took them Out when I trimmed the early lavender a couple of days ago. They hardly had any roots. The border is much better without them. The other red rose is staying for now because it’s doing so well and is so healthy in the shady corner. However, it’s not my favourite, and it isn’t the right red. But it’s Almost thornless and just looks great where it is planted. For now!

The other one I’m not sure about is Gabriel Oak. The big pink one on the left. It’s very similar to its neighbour. It’s very healthy and robust, but I don’t love it at the moment. Will see how I feel at the end of the season. I might remove it and replace it with a more purple rose or maybe something a little more drought resistant.
