My santol tree did very well outside over the winter. It’s leaves dried a bit during the extremely dry, warm weather during the last week of December and first two weeks of January when the humidity values were down to 2 percent with Santa Ana winds in San Diego (same weather as during the Los Angeles fires). Photo taken April 6, 2025.

I know it taste very similar to a mangosteen. However, I’ve never tasted one.
This tree is my experiment (just like my mangosteen tree). I know people grow them in San Diego, but it’s a pretty rare tree here. It’s very tropical with extremely high water demands to grow well.

I wish you good luck with it and maybe one day you will be able to taste it.

Thank you 🙏.
I hope it grows very fast once it gets established!

I also searched for it & it seems it can grow VERY HIGH so I hope you have enough room for it!
