Sure is. My compass garden is on this side, goes all the way down to a pond full of frogs. It was flat and when the landlord build a heated garage 25 years ago, the heat melted a deep sheet of ice on the permafrost and the ground sank for about 1000 ft and swallowed the garage. More common now as we heat up and the ground defrosts. People drill for ice shelves before building now.
