Shady Cycad. (Encephalartos ferox.)

Encephalartos ferox is the name. It does well in our mild summers. Aphelandra squarrosa fronts it.

A bonus Klahanie will happen one day when it develops a near fluorescent red cone. Its over the 20 year mark so far.

I like the architecture these plants lend. It's a beauty, Stan. I'm loving all the companion planting around it too. Loving the lushness.
Hoping you see the fluorescent red cone soon!

On that yard I spend almost as much time Kate watering up on the tree's and arbor as I do the ground. I have almost all my epiphytes here.

It’s a very slow growing cycad. It looks great, though.

It has a look of a giant Holly fern. So far its been bullet proof to weather and maybe spotty watering. I've been better at that lately.
