Quite a nice looking plant, Hywel!

I seem to be having a bad year with succulents this year! I killed a Money Plant earlier - though I have some cutting from it that seem to be surviving at the moment.

I've also killed an Easter Cactus I've had for many years & even the lovely rooted cutting look as if they are dying! I've had to throw these two plants away but I hope the cuttings at least will survive! Overwatering is the culprit! 😱😭

Good luck with the cuttings. They would rather be too dry :)

Really lovely markings on the leaves Hywel. You are right Hywel the succulent cuttings don't like it too wet as it rots them. It's a good idea to put some grit in with the compost.

he cutting were in individual pots & had been growing nicely & I was hoping to see some flowers on them next year. As it takes some time for the symptoms to show up I didn't realise what was wrong with them until the leaves started to "wilt". I did notice the signs in the mother plant earlier & made sure I didn't water it any more but by then it was too late to save it. It might not be too late for the cutting, but I'm not very hopeful. 😞

I would have sworn from the look of the thumb Hywel,it was a bromeliad.
One to look for.

Balcony...try growing them in clay pots rather than plastic ones. Just a thought.

Thanks Lindak, but I've always grown them in plastic pots & the only clay pots I have I have on the balcony.

The Easter Cactus that has died I had for many years & it had always lived in the very same pot having never been potted on into a bigger pot. Just that this year I obviously overwatered it & it couldn't survive.

I have 4 little plastic pots with little plants & at least one of them is suffering the same problem. That one might not survive but the others should - I hope!

I hope they survive for you Balcony and do well. The Easter cactus of mine from cuttings has grown and had flowers on this year. Good luck.....
