Heuchera corner Marvelous Marble on left Black Beauty on the right and Lime Marmalade under shrubs

Moved these two front Heuchera this year but seem to like it in this part of the garden in light topsoil bought in to fill a sunken area and the lime one underneath the shrubs seems to be thriving. Never felt I have had much luck with them as I have lost quite a few over the years but these have survived well, but I think it is mostly heucherella I have lost

These are pretty. Funny, I can't keep heucherella or tiarella either. I expected to lose heucheras too but all the ones I grew from seed seem very happy in our dry clay.

I’ve never tried heuchera, Jane. Mainly as I don’t have a lot of space here. I do like them though, this is a nice one. I’m loving the lush green planting in the background.

Thanks Anget, yes same, in fact I put one in this area last year and it has disappeared, that was heucherella. Thats good growing them from seed, I havent ever tried to grow anything from seed, my mom has just given me some cosmos she has grown from seed I gave her, I must have a go :-)

Thanks Kate, I have always liked them but have always been a bit dubious due to losing certain varieties, but these ones have done well :-)

I have a hillside that the tiarella seem to like and each year it has increased it's hold. it's been higher up on the slope from the ajuga and the blue and white look great together.. almost lost a heucharella to crowding by stachys.. put it in this year's new bed and it's coming along nicely since we finally have some moisture. I love the many heucheras, but lose them to the cold winters. bought another this spring (old mainstay Palace Purple) only to find that the army worms love it.. have to go out and pick the blighters off morning and evening. New location on an east facing slope alongside some pretty pink/white/green ajuga in mixed shade/sun under a huge cedar...has me hoping for success! it's a bit of a comfort that the heuchs seem to find their own niche.

Hi Lori, thanks for your comments, I had palace purple many years ago, can't believe these have lasted so long, this area is east/south facing shaded by the tree and shrubs they seem to like it, I like the idea of some ajuga with them too I was thinking of moving some from my front garden border I will have to try it, hope yours do well :-)
