Very nice Aloe bainesii!

Its green color and fullness...not like mine. Mine every winter gets stressed looking leaves. This one Andy?..always looks great and has that huge trunk already.
Maybe I just got a more tropical clone and this one has a touch of A. dichotoma's DNA lower cold tolerance?
How can it look so good in mid winter?

It likes the spot. It could be that it’s just well-established. My friend in Oakland has a tree which is amazing. It’s about three time the size of this plant. I posted a pic back in February.

I emailed Brian about some Plumeria pudica for sale at HD. He said he had already tried it and ..I don't remember exactly what happened.
Those pics of his yard were great..would like to see more.
I planted mine from a cutting about 21 years ago. I know this one on Calaroga is nowhere near that old and its many times the size of my triple trunker. Maybe mine has been hit by gophers once or more times, and I just thought over the years they are slow growers?

Wonderful specimen, love the shape of it too! It’ll be lovely in bloom.

I hope I can catch it at its peak. Orange flowers that attract hummingbirds.

Stan,

I thought the flowers on Aloe bainesii are salmon-colored?
It’s described as rose-pink.

I guess salmony is closer to it. Mine shows no signs of bud and its..old enough for sure. Should be large enough. It just seems much more cold tender than this plant.
