Crab apple tree - Red Sentinel

Crab apple tree - Red Sentinel (Malus x robusta 'Red Sentinel' (Crabapple))

Crab apples that no one eats. No birds, no squirrels. It was planted for wildlife. Lucky it is looks very decorative all winter long. I use it in Christmas decorations too. It is also beautiful when it blooms in spring. So not all is lost.

The only birds that eat our red-berried crab are visiting redwings if there is heavy snow. Nothing else is interested, so I know how frustrating it is. I have a red pyracantha that nothing likes, too, even though it was advertised as wildlife friendly! Awkward so-and-so's.

Are you going to make crab apple jelly? That's quite a harvest you have there.
