Lovely Dahlia flower, DD!
I have a few Dahlias 'Bishop's Children' that I grew from seed, from the Gardener's World mag last year. They flowered last year but I kept the tubers over winter & planted them out in big pots in the spring. Several plants now have buds but just today one bud has opened, the first this year! It's a dark red.
