Another african Iris

These african iris were planted in July 2019. Now they have started to bloom. As far as I read about them they will reproduce themselves until they take care of the whole site. Thus, we place a spacer to limit its growth towards the grass in the back garden.

Looks like Dietes iridioides. It is important to not deadhead as new flowers will keep coming. Only tidy it up by cutting the part of the stalk that turns brown.

Wylie, it is a dietes. thank you for the tip about prunning. So far I didn't prune anything. After flowering, small bulbs grow in place of the flowers that I believe are seeds. Although reproduction is rhizomatous

You should get large seed pods after flowering. Just as the pods start to open, you can harvest the seeds and start in the spring. They are very easy from seed and will bloom in a year.

This is very nice. I've never seen it advertised in GB, though apparently it will grow in the milder parts of the UK.
