No,never me. I have to fight off fruit and plant scrumpers myself. Mine will get there one day. It's almost two meters tall,had fruit.
Just have to do what we all do in gardens. Wait. Longer.

I've seen some monster plants there in the SF Bay Area. The guava tree down the street from my mom's house is about 3 times larger than this one. I must get a photo. It's so huge it takes over the whole front yard and is much taller than the house! It's large like the ones growing here in San Diego. The first time I saw it, I was shocked.

I had a large, beautiful guava tree growing in Mission San Jose, Fremont. It was 12' or 13' tall.

Stan, if you give your guava tons of water and nitrogen fertilizer it will grow so fast you won't believe it. My tree grow 12 or 13 feet within two years from a gallon plant. They're extremely heavy feeders.

Yes,its hard to keep up with their water needs. I - because no other place,have mine right next to a Cordyline Red Star. So,water just goes straight down!..no puddle ever forms. My wife likes the fruit,so it stays. Banana? She didnt like..so it goes. I wont miss it anyways.

That's a shame Stan you have to fight off scrumpers you never hear of it over here any more we use to scrimp when we were kids now they have harvesters we call them they steal from farmers fields sheep and all recently a lot of sheep.

My tall, large guava on the side of my house does not get any water during the summer. It gets some of the water from the plants in pot below.

It needs a very hard pruning this year, as it's 18' tall.

What type of guava? I know you know,this type could never go a week without water in a hot summer..it would shrivel up,at least defoliate.
They are heavy feeders too.

You'd be surprised how drought tolerant guavas are.

I see some which never receive any water in summer close to downtown San Diego, they look excellent!
Guava does like heavy feeding and lots of water to produce the best fruit, though.

My guava us the white variety which is very fragrant.
