Big Basin is in the redwood forest just northeast of Santa Cruz. It's still considered in the San Francisco Bay Area, even though it's really secluded. Photo taken Oct. 6, 2019.

These trees seem to be growing very close together. Do they get thinned out as they get bigger. The ones we see over here are always single specimens of large size in parks etc. I haven't seen a redwood forest.

Feverfew:
They never get thinned out and many are 1,000 years old or older! Redwood trees grow naturally in very dense forest. It's actually against the law to cut them down. The only way they can be cut is if they fall, as far as I know.
