Thanks all, Hywel it has been a few years since you gave it to me ,you can see how much its grown since moving here it shot up that wall in no time at all , I had it in a pot it's enjoying its freedom since planting it out , I'm happy :o)

It's at least 10 years Amy. My mother was alive when you visited ... do you remember ? and she died in 2009, so it was before that.

Lovely, Amy! It has really soared up that wall, hasn't it? I love Virginia Creepers & often take photos of them in their autumn finery! I also like the bright green glossy leaves they put out in the spring as well!

Your VC looks very well established, Amy. I love my VC... the whole north side of my house was covered with it in the town garden. I brought a little piece of it with me and found it growing wild (and huge) down by the stream as well. It now covers my kitchen wall and the leaves shade the window in summer and the discovery is covering the rocks by the stream ...now there are berries and such colour. I really love this plant.
I planted three climbers in the same area and they're competing for space and growing tall in the process, (grape, VC and trumpet vine in order of ascension.) I've waited for two years for the trumpet vine to blossom...everyone complains that it's a dominant species but it's taking it's time establishing in my garden. As ever, hoping for a better season next year.

That's looking very happy Amy. I used to have one in our last house but sadly no garden close enough to the walls here.

Glad that some things have survived the move. The VC will look great when it has covered the wall.
