What pond?

Ah..now I'm truly jealous. Its dream to have property with water- moving or large natural pond on it.
Maybe you could build a pond offshoot Lori and grow Goldfish or Koi?
Watercress sandwiches for everybody!

LOL! Thanks Stan. part of that picture is the original pond which I started seven years ago...it is a silt trap these days. The last two years my neighbours, up the hill, have had a grader working on roads which run near the headwaters of the stream and I've had the remains of beaver dams/ponds, and yards of gravel and silt come down my little stream to land in the pond. Heavy work digging and dredging, and the stream has only recently met bedrock. Perhaps now I can grade the banks properly. I'm starting work on the bog/swale that I mentioned last year..It's number 9 on my project list. Hope to get some saracenia from the wilderness bogs hereabouts.. Hipwaders are needed!
When I came here I had 60 goldfish from my city pond. I could not release them into the wild because they might thrive and I'd create an environmental "crisis" ... I built two ponds and neither was a success. My goldfish died off since a 25 gallon tank wouldn't support them. It was just a disaster. So...no goldies or koi for me.. I'm trying to make this messy area into a pond large enough that ducks and geese might find it homey!

Lori,if you had somebody rent a backhoe for you. Just look at Youtube of pond builders. In a few hours..there's a pond as big or deep as you want..you can swim with the fish in summer.
Boy,running water on your property ..thats been my dream since I was 14 and kept Koi.

...as long as it's not "sleeps wit da fishes"...Stan. if that ever happens I'll name you Godfather of my pond! lol...
Koi are beautiful..and so are goldies... I loved mine but after the move they became a nightmare. No place to put them. In spring there's water aplenty..but into Aug. the stream can dry up if there's not much rain. I was just out looking at the stream and carrying water for the greenhouse. The level has dropped considerably in the last few days.
