Busy Lizzie (Impatiens walleriana (Busy Lizzie))

This closer picture was taken yesterday. Those busy lizzies grow wild. Like weed.

Thanks for this closer up photo, Aleyna! This is the same type as I have growing on our balcony! Obviously, they don't grow wild here in the UK as the first frost would kill them off. But we can grow them outside from May to October.

They are very brave to our frost Balcony, including what we call the black frost, the one that doesn't bring a white layer over the plants, which is way more dangerous to the plants.
The black frost this last winter killed my Tibouchina Mutabilis.

From Wikipedia:
Black frost. Black frost is not in the strict sense a frost (resulting from freezing dew or moisture from the air) but rather an atmospheric condition that causes the freezing of the inner part of the plant (of the sap); due to the intense cold, the plant becomes dark, burned and dies. :o(

Thanks for that information, I'd never heard of a Black Frost before!

I must confess to never actually having left a Busy Lizzy outside when frost is threatened. Nevertheless, they have such a very high content of water that they surely must freeze at the first sign of the temps falling below zero (C) at night. Perhaps I will leave one out if I remember!
