Sometimes you learn that keeping a plant small looks nice in pictures ( Bonsai) but when it seems to barely survive each winter with any growth?
Maybe just grow it normally in a pot. Working so far!

Yes we all learn Stan if it works don't fix it we say here Stan so yes keep it in the pot.

It looks great! I like the Ficus palmeri, also. My F. palmeri is so huge. It now is growing like crazy since I cut it back drastically. I purchased my F. palmeri in 1987 and it was in a pot for so many years. It stayed small. I had it in a pot and it grew into the ground...now, it so large and drops leaves on my neighbors yard. She hates the leaves. Ooops! LOL! :>))

This year Andy is the first time I've seen full sized healthy F. palmeri leaves on it. Turned my head yesterday as that leaf grew a little more since the photo. The plant is now sending out a main leader for the first time.
I bet it would grow in ground here. Its taken alot as a little potted plant.

btw- The Clerodendron/firecracker? wow,what a water needy plant. Its a fast wilter even 2 months after planting.

A sizable pot for now Penny. Until now I hadn't really thought it could do well in ground. It might after all.

You should see the size of the leaves on my F. palmeri, they're huge! Of course, it's in the ground (for 13 years) and now it's pretty large. I'll post a photo soon.

I came home from work today and my Clerodendrum quadriloculare was completely wilted. I just gave it a tremendous amount of water yesterday! Last year it was very neglected and almost died. It's an extremely thirsty plant. I may take it out...it has never bloomed. I think it's getting too much shade under the F. cyathistipula.
