It looks as though you've finally got weather suitable for getting some work done! I think I would abandon that area for the rest of the summer if there are hornets...

Ladies you're going to doubt my sanity...LOL...two of the nests are in the ground and one is in the cedar that I was trimming! The two in the ground are near the pond and I was lucky that some animal had dug into the holes and pulled out some of the nest comb or I wouldn't have known there was a hole there and might have stepped in it or sunk my shovel into it! I'm going to take your advice Stera...I had to get up at the crack of dawn to have time to work on the heavy stuff. today the temps were in the high 20's and this area is mostly full sun. It cooled off quite nicely last night and I managed to work from 6:45 to 10:30 before it became stinking hot. You know, I think I'm going to enjoy autumn a lot more this year. Can't wait.

Yes Lori, best keep clear. I strimmed a wasps nest once (ouch) and hornets would be a lot worse.

Cue the Rocky theme, Karen!
Stera: .. That sounds like a painful experience. I had one similar...with a wasp nest beside the veg patch a couple of seasons past... I ran over it with the lawn mower and wasn't aware until one stung me on the thigh... like the stab of a knife! painful for a very long time...lucky for me I have local reactions...not general or respiratory ones!
