Digitalis Illumination....A new Foxglove to me.

Digitalis Illumination....A new Foxglove to me.

I've had a pleasant surprise with this Foxglove that I planted earlier this spring. It really is lovely. Different to the usual biennials that we see a lot of. This is a short lived perennial but I suspect, being half hardy, it may well succumb to my wet cold soil in the winter.
Another downside is that the label says it grows to 90cm height (approx 3 feet) but it has only reached around 50cm. That, combined with me mixing up the labels of my Japanese Anemones and planting ,what has turned out to be, a tall one in front of this means the foxglove can only be seen from certain angles but it's well worth walking up the garden to view.
The flowers are a pink colour with a pale apricot/cream speckled inner. The photo doesn't really do the colours justice.

Thanks.......I've researched today and discovered it was actually RHS Chelsea flower show 'Plant of The Year' in 2012. I had no idea when I bought it. I'm sure it isn't mentioned on the label which is surprising.
