Wodyetia bifurcata - Foxtail Palms

Wodyetia bifurcata - Foxtail Palms (Wodyetia bifurcata - Foxtail Palm)

These are two of four Foxtail palms around this business building in San Diego, CA. It's a very popular, common palm. It grows fast and is drought tolerant even though it prefers more water in summer. Photo taken May 29, 2016.

Have you seen any of these in San Jose? They might be able to make it there since I find them light frost tolerant.

I have never seen any in San Jose. I know there must be some growing up there, though. You're correct they don't tolerate much frost. Although, I have read and seen pics of them growing in Houston, TX and Central Florida where they have survived moderate frost and lost all their fronds and have come back within one season with a full crown. Of course, those areas have extremely hot and humid spring through fall temps with a lot of rain.
