beautiful lilac..is it fragrant? i bought a couple of standards for my old garden, and was dreadfully disappointed when there was no scent, since that's why i bought them..no room here for one..rats!

This one is so fragrant that it draws the bees out of the garden! Yellow butterflies and bumble bees...need to be careful where you sniff! This bush has lots of tiny off shoots this spring...would you like some?

Hi Pat!... sorry, I should have replied immediately but I was planning to send you a pm when I put them in the mail... sorry. It's been raining off and on the last two days, so as soon as it's dry I'll do the pruning on the bush (it's just finished it's bloom) and send you at least two of the offshoots. The wind has strewn it's petals all around and the ones that fell made a carpet... it's so pretty and fragrant still. ..but not for much longer I fear. everything has it's time, aye? I have a tartarian honeysuckle that is very tough and survives our terrible winters. It's in blossom now too, it produces pretty red berries from pink flowers which the robins love... It is due for a major pruning so I may send you a small cutting from it too... I hope it's still early enough in it's cycle that it will root readily. Is that ok?

well, i guess!!!..just hope you won't be too disappointed if i fail with them..i've never tried cuttings before, but am looking forward to giving it a go...i've been off the pc the last little while..dr. appts, tests, etc...hopefully i'll soon be finished with all of this

sorry to hear about the medical bothers... hope all works out well for you, Pat. We're getting a bit of rain today but I will be doing the lilac trimming very soon as the blossom has all dropped. It was stressed by lack of moisture and I've been dumping pails of water on the roots because I added a couple of inches of soil around the plant. (when I dug out the place for the relocated greenhouse I had two lovely piles of topsoil to make another bed under the lilac for hostas (I think).) The added soil meant that the little bit of rain we got didn't get to the lilac roots... so I carry the water. I really miss being able to turn on the hose like I did in my town garden. Don't worry...if these don't take I'll send you some more.
