Hi Lori This is just around the corner from us and there are always Hares there. It's a joy to see them.

I'm sure there was a time when the hares were plentiful here too, Linda. Their colouring is so perfect that they are practically invisible in early spring. There is one small area on the road to Griffith where we see hares. (usually only one or two in a season) It's been so snowy here this month that they may still be in their winter white. I can remember, as a child, my father and brother hunting them as they were considered pests. It's strange living here where they should be plentiful and seeing none at all. their numbers may rebound because one of the neighbours had a fur permit and he took two red fox (these were issued because the foxes and coyotes were said to be inter-breeding and somehow that is a problem.) This is one aspect of wildlife management that I will never understand...nor do I like the idea that wildlife is "managed"... I know it's necessary for the protection of the animals, if nothing else, in areas of high human population... but out here in the boonies? ..sigh.

That's a shame Lori. We have a vixen who visits our garden, and we saw her eating next to the Hedgehog again last night. She is beautiful and it is a privilege to see her.
