Plumeria Flowers - Happy First Day Of Summer

Plumeria Flowers - Happy First Day Of Summer (Plumeria)

Happy first day of summer everyone! The trees, shrubs and vines are all in full flower and the heat is on for the first day of summer in most of San Diego County. Excessive heat warnings have been in place for the last 4 days further inland where temps have reached 115ºF (46ºC). Luckily, temps here where I live are only between 82 -88ºF (28 - 31ºC) but more humid. Photo taken morning of June 22, 2015.

It's been warm to hot and humid here. The humidity is the real issue...and it going to become even more humid and hot with the monsoonal flow heading to Southern California starting tomorrow. It's suppose to last for several days.

My largest red/pink plumeria in the ground has been flowering since I left for the SF Bay Area. Some of my Plumerias don't have a lot of leaves, also. I think I need to fertilize them.

They look great, Delonix! :-))

The first time I ever saw these flowers was on the desktop wallpaper for my wife's laptop some years ago. I was so impressed by the picture I asked her to send me a copy which I set as my wallpaper on my desktop computer!

Balcony:

Thanks! I have several plumerias in the ground and in pots. My largest tree is about 14' tall by 14' wide. It has many red/pink flowers. I haven't taken any photos this year yet, though. I've posted many photos over the years of my plumeria trees.

I'll be posting photos very soon of plumeria trees in my neighborhood.

Its been humid here too. And hot hot hot. Midnight is still 71f. Climate change Andy.

I've been saying my Plummie is Celadine. Its mostly white
with a small yellow throat. Celadine right? I see on the net some are almost all yellow with a touch of white.

Also Andy, don't Celadines seem to have thicker branches? Mines like that.

It's very, very humid here right now. It's very hot and raining. Yesterday, we had showers and thunderstorms and after they left it was so very hot and humid! The monsoonal flow has been very strong the last week or so.

Most Plumeria varieties have very thick branches. Plumeria 'Celadine' is the most commonly grown variety in California and many other countries. It grows very easily and pretty fast with regular water and fertilizer.
