katsura "Red fox". Back lit by sun.
Planted today from pot to landscape. Hope it will survive. Last year I planted Redbud in the same general area and it died :-(
Leaves are starting to turn green but overall appearance is still red. Fall foliage is yellow.

Yes Sheila. I like the one you have as well but I was looking for narrow tree and this red variety grows in narrow pyramidal shape. It is a purple-leaved cultivar. In spring, the leaves emerge deep burgundy-purple with contrasting yellow-green veining Leaves are especially attractive when backlit by sun. Leaf color fades to bluish green by mid-summer . I would not mind to have the greenish katsura as well if I could find a good spot for it but I just bought a Chionanthus virginicus so have to slow down or I will break my back which is already in bad shape. My DH is not interested in gardening.
I still do not know if Cercidiphyllum will be pruned by deer because I've only planted it in the "wild" yesterday.

The leaves on mine are yellow . . . perhaps a different variety of Cercidiphyllum?!
