Oh you bet. Once I dug my car free, everything was fine@ yey!

It's good you didn't get the 3' of snow they were forecasting for New York. It appears New England got hammered, though!

I expect it was bad enough though...? I have had some bad experiences driving in the snow... One year when I worked in the Medway towns it took me over 8 hours to drive just 5 miles!!! I was driving on my own and ended up stuck in a mega traffic jam - The car slid all over the place, and as for driving up a slope... Well, thankfully there were people around to push...:D This was back in the 90's - Life before mobile phones! If I'd had one I could have rung my Husband so he wouldn't have worried! I had left at lunch time and didn't get home until half past 8 in the evening! Those were the days...!

Looks like the weather moved along a bit. I suppose it's not always easy for the weathermen to predict a storm exactly because it's so fierce and can probably veer off course quickly. At least the person in command told everyone to keep safe even if the storm wasn't as bad.

This storm was very erratic. Some people got it worse than others. I only got about 5 inches, but people 20 miles away got over two feet. Yet Boston got over 3 feet. You are right Linda, there are many factors.

Wow Tracey, sounds like a harrowing experience you had. You must have been exhausted when you got home. I remember once sliding down a icy hill not knowing where or how I would end up. That is the worse feeling. I'm glad everybody is safe now.

I see more snow storms are heading your way.

I'll send you some our warm San Diego weather. Yesterday was another 80ºF (27ºC) day here where I live. This whole week is going to warm.

Delonix1, Thanks for the weather update, it's the last thing I wanted to hear, lol! I just about finished digging out. How about a one way ticket to San Diego instead :)

I know this weather is so strange. We are not getting the rain we need and having spring to summer-like weather the last several years in winter.

I think after this next storm you will need a one way ticket to San Diego. :>)

I'm making lots of hot chocolate!

Hopefully, that will warm you up with the next severe cold wave heading your way.

We're having a winter heat wave. This is not unusual; however, for it to be so consistently warm in Jan/Feb is somewhat unusual (it happened last winter, though). The temps over the next four days will be around 90ºF (32ºC) here in inland San Diego and low 80's along the coast. I think you need that ticket to San Diego. :>)

Thanks for the information. Your weather is very perplexing to me. 90F is a tropical heat wave. Do you have any idea why your weather is so out of the norm? That heat wave has been going on for a few years now, correct? At first I thought it was just a temporary situation, but it seems to be the new norm for you. We've been getting hit with back to back snow storms with temps down below 0 degree. They are coming at us from all directions and the snow is just piling up. But I'm not sure if 90F is so great either - not everyday anyway. OK thanks for the chat and stay cool! :)

I really do hope you'll have some mild weather return! I can't comprehend 0ºF. I've never felt such a cold temperature in my life.

"Do you have any idea why your weather is so out of the norm?" Well, that's an interesting question...maybe Global Warming?

The hot Santa Ana Wind season overlaps our winter. It's very difficult to comprehend not unless one lives here in Southern California. It's like an oxymoron. However, with this being said: It's been much warmer than normal the last 9 out 10 years here in San Diego. Most of us San Diegans thought last Dec (2013) - Mar was unusually and consistently hot (it felt like summer)...this year may surpass last year in consecutive warmer than average days. (last year was the hottest and driest winter on record for most of California). What's the strangest thing is that the night temps have been well above average, also. Tonight at 10:30 p.m. it's still in the mid to upper 70's the same was for last night at 11:30 p.m. (this is not common at all during winter, even for San Diego). :>/

The next three days is forecasted to be the same as today, from 86 along the coast to 92ºF inland (30 - 33ºC). The long-range forecast shows drier and much warmer than normal temps for San Diego. This is really horrible for our extreme drought.

Thanks for a vivid and thoughtful answer. There seems to be some kind of major shift in the climate. It's not unheard of for the earth to go through very drastic transformations of various kinds - the ice age - the Jurassic period, etc. We live on a dynamic Earth.

13 Feb, 2015

You're welcome.

It's very true the earth has so many transformations...we're so young (mankind)...we don't know all Mother Earth's cycles.
