Chili pepper 'Black Pearl'

Chili pepper 'Black Pearl'

(at least I think that's what it is)

Found this plant in lower garden.
I believe up north it is grown as ornamental plant. The little black peppers are extremely hot (I tried) but I know that they are edible and are used in Mexican cuisine .

Yo-ho! Yo-ho! A pirate's life for me!.... Is it named for Cap'n Jack's ship?
My son loves Mexican food... I was thinking of growing some tomatillos. This looks like it would be pretty in a garden whether you ate the peppers or not! Bet they would also look attractive preserved in brine!

It is very attractive plant. Peppers looks like black pearls. Especially when sun shines on them.
The plant would look attractive in a pot. I like Mexican food too Lori, but these are way too hot for my liking. Pepper spray maybe? I see tomatillos in the markets here but did not buy any yet.

Sometimes Chili peppers live over in mildest areas of California. For those who maybe didn't know that in the real tropics pepper plants can live years and be shrubs. Not annuals like here.

This plant is about 4'tall and it was here last year but did not produce any peppers .
