LOL...Drc726! Of course! Recently I find myself looking for stuff quite a lot. Life's a guessing game.
We use fuel oil, Sandra. This tank cost us thousands but a refit to another fuel, like natural gas, would have cost us much more. I have had my eye on a solar system for years now... There is a solar roof system that combines roofing and solar panels. I gather the tricky part is the storage of the energy and the control of the process of storage. The green element is the fact that it is made of non-corrosive material. We have legislation that limits the life of all metal storage tanks, M.

How do you stop it from freezing? we have solar panels they are awesome. bringing in much more energy than predicted. all roofs will be solar one day..

I'm hopeful that I can do the same as you have Sandra. I have also thought about a venturi-fed wind generator. It is much quieter than the regular mill type of wind generator and does not require as much space.
The only time cold would be a problem would be if the tank were compromised and water had got in somehow. The water would freeze. We have stringent storage laws...hence our new tank, but it's all just to reduce the risk assessment for the insurance companies...(our old tank could have served for another five to ten years, in my estimation.) There are also regulations about which type of tank you must install if you are near a body of water!
