Front yard Howea.

This had been a potted palm for near a decade. Freed!
Well, freed about a decade ago. A bit stunted now..but nice.

It looks great, though.

Sometimes it looks good when they stay somewhat small. When they grow very tall sometimes you can't enjoy them (as much) in a smaller lot.

I almost planted a Majesty palm there. It was potted also..pretty good sized.
It got crown rot, something I later read they are prone to get.

A majesty palm probably would be a bad palm for that spot. The trunk gets very large, almost like a royal palm trunk. There's many large majesty palms in my neighborhood. They can grow huge!

Majesty palms are really hardy and they need tons of water and fertilizer to look terrific.

The water need is what has kept me from trying them now. I tell you Andy, getting older now I think about planting a group of Washies in my side yard. Fast,hardy..and will trunk in my lifetime. The truth.

Yes, water-hungry plants are not so popular, now. If we get some really good rains and some of those reservoirs re-fill after being almost empty...then it's time to plant more plants/trees.

Buying larger plants are fun, also. You have instant tree...and don't have to wait so long for them to mature.
