Hakonechloa macra for Tommymoo

Hakonechloa macra for Tommymoo

Tommymoo, this one I planted last year. It is about 1ft by 1ft and 8inches high. They say it is best planted in full shade to show its colours but both of mine are planted in almost full sun. I love this plant (deer does not) and will probably plant few more and will choose shadier location. I think it should propagate easily . Good luck with yours. :-)

Klahanie!
How kind of you!
It's very beautiful and looks healthy.
Thank you very much for uploading this for me and telling me some useful info. I'm going to bring back a few more from my parents' Feb next year, instead of trying to propagate my little one. Thanks once again :-)

Love these Klahanie - I also grow the ordinary green Hakonechloa. As you probably know, they do not mind a bit being chopped in half: I double my stock every year!

Tommymoo, where do your parents live? In Japan?
---------------------------------------------------------

I will do that today Sheila. The large one already blocks half of my pathway. It is my last day I can work in the garden. Leaving south and will not be back until April. Hopefully everything will be in bloom around here again. Will post from Mexico ...if I will see some interesting plants. Take care and keep warm.

So it really gets cold on Vancouver Island? Or wet and cold?! Have a great spell keeping warm in Mexico, and see you soon :))

25 Oct, 2014

No, it really does not get very cold Sheila. Just grey, wet and dreary.

Yes Klahanie!

:-) I always wanted to go to Japan to visit your gardens there Tommymoo. (and maybe I still will) There is something unique, mystical and fascinating about them. We have some around here but I want to see the real thing. How long have you been living in UK?

I agree! Just love Japanese gardens - the tranquillity, the stones, tea-houses and beautiful Acers.

Klahanie:
I've been here in the UK since Aug 2006, therefore for 8 years. Thank you very much for your compliments about Japanese gardens. I love them too; their simplicity, tranquility, serenity and sheet neatness.

Klahsnie and Sheilabub:
Please send me a pm and let me know your email address; I'll send you my on-line album of my parents' garden if you fancy taking a look at the photos.

Thank you Tommymoo.

Also cherry tree blossoms in the spring Sheila. These are amazing sights.

Oh yes, Klahanie.
Cherry blossoms in Japan are just magical. So hypnotizing.

How could I forget?! Cherry blossom is my favourite blossom, especially 'en masse' and I might even see some next month as it will be spring in New Zealand!

Here are pictures of cherry blossoms in Tokyo, near the Imperial Palace:

Lovely structure to this :o)

We have this grass in pots and it's so lovely with the movement when the wind blows. We've been to Japan but a long time ago....in the early 80's. Loved it. Tokyo, Nara, Toba, Kyoto. Visited the palaces and temples.

Thank you for liking its structure Terra.XX

I have seen this "grass" growing in pots Lindak and they looked wonderful. I hope one day I will be able to Japan to see it all. Thanks for your note.
