Tropical Rhododendron

Taken October 12th 2014.
My Vireya Rhododendron 'Robert Bates'. The plant blooms throughout the year with the heaviest bloom in the fall. The flowers are very fragrant.

The one I had? turned out to be not as advertised on the label. I thought it was something like yours there Randall,and it flowered the next year in tiny tube flowers a pale purple! I did later see mine at the Vireya Garden in Oakland. Even bigger it was just as dull- lol. The label there said something about "V.azalea".
Its gone now. Not lamented.

It looks very healthy considering how hot it's been this whole year. I guess having them in your back yard facing north makes all the difference.
