ive just read that these (trees) bramley are well known for their long life
:-) the first tree was grown from a pip in a garden in Nottinghamshire in 1809: long will your bumper crop be
its looking good Johnjoe :-) a great apple to have, someone chose well.
the tree and apples look amazing :-)

Thank you Marybells. I reckon there is about 1000 Bramley apples on it. I am starting to pluck them off, it takes me over 3 days. The climing up on the tree is starting to get nerve racking with me now. One time it did not bother me. When the grandchildren arrive I do have to keep them away from going under the tree, if one fell from the tree it could do a lot of damage to one. We do have too many so i give 90% away to friends and neighbours. With the other 10% my wife she stews them and pack them in freezer bags & makes apples tarts and freezes them too. That keeps us going for the year.

thats a lot of Bramley apples your neighbours must really be pleased :-) sounds like you are a good team (you and your wife) me well i manage to collect some of the apples from the tree (sometimes) ive never ever frozen any of my home
made cooking as normally i only gather enough apples just for one or two days deserts also i leave some apples to fall to the ground for wild-rabbits to nibble on or any other passing wild animal :-) then some of the apples go on the ground under the tree to decompose naturally :-)
may be if the crop ever grows to the size of your bountiful
crop i may have to rethink how to harvest!
i remember one year me and the children made chocolate coated apples on sticks and toffee apples with them
:-) that was rather fun.
All the best with you bounty for this year :-)

Thank you homebird, I don't think I would worry about the one that got away. I was the same when I was up the tree and had an apple out of reach I would use a brush with a child sand bucket tied on it and poke the apple so that it fell into the bucket, missed most of them Lol.
