Hi Sandra! Hope all is well at Coreside and with the family. Summer, so far, has been ok..but we need more heat...it's been down near 10 dgrees at night with changeable breezy days at about 21-25 degrees C. My tomatoes need some hot days to ripen, or I'll be ripening them on the windowsills like last year. Our weather is just one big anomaly!

we have had the hottest July for years...my spring was running so slow it was hard to get enough water to water all our plants..especially as Julian s again growing giant marrows!! All good now though normal weather has resumed with summer storms..:-)

Our weather is so changeable that if you wait 5 minutes you can complain about something else! Today, however, has been lovely and warm...maybe a little too warm for oldies like me, about 28 degrees with large fluffy clouds sailing along, and a nice breeze. perfect weather actually, if it wasn't so dry. My rainbarrel is down to the last bit, and my tomatoes haven't started to ripen yet. Having a bit of a riddle about the water in the stream...it has dried up twice and then suddenly it's flowing like mad again (we haven't had rain) ...someone is up there mucking about with the beaver dam. I don't like to use the stream water because it could be unhealthy (pigs are back) , and using the creek for watering was one reason why I was so happy with the stream when we came here. sad, aye?
Does Julian have any candidates for "Guinness" records? I am growing pumpkins and squash and courgettes... The pumpkin has mildew and the courgettes have a blossom end rot and mildew! Going to use an old remedy my sister was telling me about; a solution of baking soda and water spritzed on the upper surface of the leaves..hope it works.
