Desfontainia spinosa - 2014

I'm pleased to see that you have discolouration on the young leaves too (sorry). I have two young plants and both are "suffering" like that. I was unsure if they needed potting on or it was the cool weather.

Strangely, the smaller one is a reliable bloomer whereas the larger one has yet to flower for me in two years.

Meanie - I suspect all plants of this shrub may be seed raised and therefore slightly variable. This might explain why some plants flower better than others.

Are you saying that it's difficult to propagate from cuttings?

That comment above (credited to Iciar) was actually made by me - for some strange reason it happens from time to time.

I have consulted two books, and although they both say it can be propagated by cuttings, one says semi ripe material and the other hardwood. Also 'medium difficulty'.
I know it is not the easiest plant to please down here in the southeast where the summers can be warm and dry (in a good year).
