I'm tempted to cut some to bring indoors, but a) not sure that they'd regrow, b) got nowhere safe to put htem and c) not unpacked my vases yet! Still, sunshine outside my door will last for a while yt

They look pretty where they are Fran..if you don't need the pot,you could just let them die down naturally,to build up the bulbs for next year..taking just the flowerheads off when they are finished flowering..the foliage will go yellow, then you can pull,or cut them off..or you could replant them in your garden...welcome sunshine indeed..:o)

Have done that seeral times, Bloomer - well, a couple of times, anyway. They were bought in one of those tiny bowl things, and there were maybe five or six. I let the be for the first year, then spread the bulbs around a bigger pot the next. This is maybe two moves on from that - and maybe they'll need thinning out a bit for next year.

And now I've got new Tete-a-Tete in my "composter bed", along with other Narcissus varieties, so I won't be short of them (if they surive not being planted till March!)

I'm a bit wary of deadheading - *s* bit like trying to force them to do again something that they've already done very successfully. But that's for re-blooming, this is different. I usually let them die down as suits them, and only take the foliage off when I repot them.

I do like flowers indoors, but as soon as a flower's been cut, it starts to die, while potted plants live on. Hmm, maybe I could repot some in small pots, 2 or 3 in each, and have them on the windowsill? I can try that (cautiously, ready to move them back outside if they don't look happy) - if I remember come next repot season!

quite agree, Bloomer! they do give wonderfule scent - lol pity they can't bottle it! but bought scent neer smells exactly the same, even if one can get this "flavour" - can't see Chanel doing Narcissus perfume.

i used to buy flowers from Columbia Flower Market, which was literally round hte corner from where I used to lie. was on 7th floor then, no point buying plants, but I'd buy bunches of freesias, they had the post pwerful scent of any that were on sale - even if it was hard to get them into the vase, cos they all had side-shoots. hmm, might investigate freesias now ...
