Plot ready for when the weather improves,like to leave the ground open to all the winter can throw at it.Rain and snow wash away any build up of fertiliser residues ,these tend to be salts which otherwise would raise the salinity of the soil.Any weeds that appear the dutch hoe quickly gets rid of them

thats very true :-) the friends i know with allotments do this to and say the same...my father all ways did to...he had huge garden....flowers/veggies!
