Oriental poppy flowering mid December in my garden

How crazy is that? Beautiful Poppy ... :o)

I know! The bud was formed a month or so ago, I remember hoping it would flower on remembrance day but it didn't. Eventually I thought I'd help it and peeled back the outer covering to reveal the scrunched up pink petals inside, then a couple of days later I went out to find it fully open! :)

Welcome back to the active circle of goy friends Louisa. Thank you for sharing this beauty with us. It is a lovely shade of pink. Is this something you bought or did it just appear in your garden. Poor plants they are as mixed up by the weather as are we. My lupin is still flowering lol.

Thanks all!:) Scotsgran, it's one I grew from seed this year, seems like it was determined to flower this year come what may! It's still in flower, four days on, but looking a bit ragged now and pointing at the floor. I've had the picture printed and intend to paint it over Christmas.

Louisa ... I thought of this pic when I went to Mums this morning ... she has a vivid pink Pelargonium flower in an outdoor pot ... ridiculous for December ... but lovely ... :o)

That is unusual Louisa, but its been an incredible summer and there are many flowers in my garden refusing to go to sleep !
