Spathodea campanulata or African Tulip Tree

:-) This whole street is lined with these trees and that makes it a nice walk in this time of the year.

I actually lived in Africa and saw these everywhere. The fushia pink ones were just as amazing as this one. Great Tree!

I heard that they can be very invasive in Africa. I have never seen or heard of fuchsia pink one.

I could be wrong about the type of tree I'm thinking of, but it looked very much like this one except pink. These red ones were there tool

Yes the flowering trees there were nothing short of amazing. I've posted a couple pics to my gallery, maybe you can identify the pink flowering trees in the background and I think the red ones are these. This was Dar es Salaam province of Tanzania in February - March.

I love large African Tulip trees! My tree is still blooming...and it's been blooming since April 1st.

I have never seen a fuchsia-colored African Tulip Tree, either. The golden-yellow variety is common here, though.

Yes, my African Tulip tree is a very good bloomer. It has blooms on it almost all year. It's heaviest bloom is from April - Nov. and sporadic blooms during the other months.

I can't imagine it being cold especially when the African Tulip trees are in full bloom. They need warm to hot weather to bloom well.

Ah..I totally forgot to look for and over these past Mexico photos. I will now.

Delonix1, I call 17-18 deg Celsius cold here. The year round temperatures days are around 25-28. But as I type this it is cold and cloudy today ...it was raining over night. It is some kind of pattern every year in January,
There is a name for it which I forgot.

That is what they call the rain in January and also predict the rainy season according to when it comes. Too scientific for me.

It's been pretty chilly here in San Diego, also. Not like the last two years when we had summer temps in winter.

It's suppose to warm up into the low 70's (22 degrees C) here this weekend.
