I'd dearly love to grow these plants on my balcony - or at least have a heated greenhouse on it where I could grow these lovely plants!
I've been fascinated by them ever since there was picture on my wife's laptop when she bought it some years ago!

In pots they grow very well and don't get too large. That's especially true if the pot is relatively small.
Mine is in the ground. It becomes a medium-sized tree to 25' (8m) tall in the ground. My largest one in the back yard is 11ft (3.5m) tall and has a spread of more than 12 ft (3.7m) wide.
This is my largest plumeria

I never imagined they could grow so big!

Oh yes, in San Diego's subtropical climate they only grow about half the size as in the tropics.
In Hawaii (where I'm from originally) they grow to about 50ft (15m) tall and with the same or greater spread.

That really "knocks the wind out of my sails!"

In Hawaii because of the rich volcanic soil, plumeria trees can grow very large. Typically, they stay at 30 - 40 ft (9 -12m) tall, depending on variety...there's many dwarf varieties available.
Here's a photo of a large 360 year old plumeria in Taiwan. It's on the Southern California's Plumeria Society's website which is based here in San Diego's Balboa Park.

Thanks for the links, Delonix! Fantastic to see a tree so old!

You're welcome. There's much older trees in Mexico and the Caribbean where they're native. I believe their life-span is around a thousand years or more (it's very difficult to document such old trees, though).
