It's also a way of encouraging them to take an interest in growing things!
Both our grandchildren like to pick fruit from our balcony, Strawberries & Tomatoes, they also like to "help" me with the watering! Sometimes they become so enthusiastic I have to stop the & tell them they are plants - not fish! :-D)

Just got the grandchildren to harvest the last of the 'Marmande' tomatoes growing on our balcony. Had just 4 fruits as I'd been saving them to let them pick them!

Hi Balcony. Your Grandson is Lucky To Have A Grandad That Grows So Many Nice Things.

Jane we also grew Mustard & Cress when at school! We also used to grow Daffodils - I never won a prize though! We also grew Candytuft & Nasturtiums as well.
Thank you, Motinot! :-))
Thanks Lynda! :-)) Very kind of you to say so! :-)) I like to encourage them while they are still small. Our granddaughter did the same a few years ago. I like to grow a few tomato & strawberry plants on the balcony & I get them to pick them when they are ripe.
Last Saturday I got both of them to pick the last 4 ripe tomatoes on the plants. I wanted to get some photos of them doing it but they didn't come out very well.
