Back yard 4

Back yard 4

A better view of the really ropey raised border! This brickwork can't stay. Question is what should replace it - another raised bed or a ground level border with rope edging?

Hello Urbanite,

I think a ground level border with rope edgingwould look nice. I take it this is the new house? If so, why not cover up the brick work with decorative trellis which you can buy from B&Q or Homebase at about £18 per panel?

The walls aren't the problem - it's those raised beds. I'll put wires across the wall for things to grow up - though my planting scheme is still changing. I may put some trellis along the top just so that I don't have the neighbours peering into my house every time they come out of their back door. I'm taking cuttings of some rambling & climbing roses from my current house - very thorny to give a bit of extra security along the back wall

on my income it would be planters in front and planters on the bed to hide it...to train climbing plants up a wall i gently hold them in place with skirting board clips that you use for stereo wires etc,You can get them in different sizes.I do everything on a tiny budget and alot of it is thinking outside the box on ways to do things using every day things. My yard is about the same size as yours and a really odd shape and most of it is budget finds and things I've found (other people junk...lol).The next thing I'd really like is pallet seating (With a little help from some local friends)
