THE NIGHTSHIFT TAKING OVER FROM THE BIRDS:-)

THE NIGHTSHIFT TAKING OVER FROM THE BIRDS:-)

The frog army leave the pond each night to carry out maintenance work, they seem very successful as I have seen very little slug activity. I have to keep looking where I tread though as there are loads of teeny weeny frogs less than than 2cm (3/4 inch) lurking everywhere:-))

I love this photo, Ba :))

Not going into details about why... (my pond is a battle zone - and not just for the frogs! lol!)

They are so useful and cute as well.love your pic.

Karen, now I'm intrigued, you can't leave a nosey person like me dangling:-))

20 Jul, 2013

Suey, the poor things are having to start work later as I keep disturbing them as I'm watering each night:-))

20 Jul, 2013

Brilliant :)

21 Jul, 2013

They certainly earn their keep here Sheila:-)

21 Jul, 2013

Karen is it because of your koi?:-)

21 Jul, 2013

Koi GONE! (in the first round...)

Shark - aka grass carp \O/ (or carp amour, as he's called here - sounds nice doesn't it?) GONE!!! - in the second round!!!
(don't ask, Ba...he was sold to me as a beneficial organism...I now know better...:/)

Peace and harmony now reigns...(apart from in the frog-world) hopefully! I've even had a flower on a water-lily...it's been so long, I've forgotten what colours they are! lol!

Love my frogs, though. I've got one lady and and, at least four, suitors... :)))

21 Jul, 2013

Yes they'll be a bit rough on the old girl come mating time, I've seen some drown. Good job you're getting the lily pads in place although very rare to see a frog on them here:-))

22 Jul, 2013

She's bigger than the most eager boy, though...and he gets short shrift!

I watched one of my boys having a "battle" with a rotten water-hyacinth bulb, the other day. It put up no resistance...but, he fought valliantly for ages...and he won! lol!

They're all on a hiding to nothing, though...she lays her eggs in some weeds...and, shortly after, there's a gold-fish feeding frenzy... :(

Mine do sit on my (very sparce) lily-pads, though...

...are French Frogs different, when a "a courting"???

Lol! Don't answer that!! :D

22 Jul, 2013

They must be Karen if they fancy bulbs ....British frogs are obviously more discerning:-) Sometimes at mating season they all grab one poor female and each other, looking like a huge rugby scrum, but still sticking to their own species:-)

22 Jul, 2013

My poor wee girl is lucky to be a French frogesse, by the sound of things, Ba...

...hmm...now wondering about French men...lol... ;)

24 Jul, 2013

I believe it's the same lol:-))

24 Jul, 2013

Didn't really want to think about it, Ba...:/

Because I'm here, mostly on my own, I have a succession of valliant but, mostly, elderly (to be fair), small French frogs following me around! Don't fancy being at the bottom of a scrum!!! LOL!!! :)))))))

24 Jul, 2013

Would it make a difference if they were young and fit?:-)

25 Jul, 2013

That's not a fair question, Ba! :D

I'm not young, either...so, I have the "older" suitors...some of them might even take off their berets, occasionally...

"God loves a tryer", as they say...lol! :))))

25 Jul, 2013

Do they bring gifts of onions, may as well stick with the stereotypes lol. Does you OH know, I might try a bit of blackmail:-)

26 Jul, 2013

Sorry, Ba - been in black-out since the storm on Friday! No onions yet...but plenty of offers of help...

OH knows...and he finds it all quite amusing...how sad is that... :)))

29 Jul, 2013

Poor you, I bet you were very glad of your suitors attentions. Are these men alone? no women? You could start a dating agency, make a fortune. Never mind you ungallant OH, he wouldn't find it amusing if they were younger Karen:-)

30 Jul, 2013

LOL!! Ba...a dating agency made me laugh so much, thank you!!! You made my night! :)))

"Lonely widower/singleton (well, actually married, but, hey...c'est normal, n'est pas?) seeks any woman who'll fall for it"...lol!

...but, on the other hand...there are the...

"Lonely widower/singleton, inside leg 15", waist 60", own tractor, beret can be removed "...... :/ lololol! :D

30 Jul, 2013

I'll have him! Je ne suis pas difficile:-)))
