Dicentra peregrina

naoto

By Naoto

Dicentra peregrina (Dicentra peregrina)

We, Japanese, call this dwarf dicentra "the queen of alpine plants". The height is only 10cm (4inch) and its flower is very similar to Dicentra spectabilis.

So far only one flower this year - I hope there will be more next year......

Thanks for the comments, guys!

@Pcw
Seeds of D.peregrina may take from 1 to 3 years to germinate so please be patient! I'll also try to get some seeds of D.peragrina "alba form" from Japan later this year.

Naoto-success.I sowed 10 seeds on 9th jan 2012 and 2 have germinated.At least I hope they are the Dicentra and not a couple of dandelions!
They are long,thin,glaucous seedlngs with a single seed leaf.Does that sound right?

Definitely not dandelions.Do you think it's worth removing the two germinated seeds and leaving the others to see if anything happens.

What else?

See who else is growing Dicentra peregrina.

See who else has plants in genus Dicentra.
