Their growth up north slows considerably. Mine is getting part sun,and that doesn't help.
When I saw them at the Huntington I nearly fell to my knees. "What other plants?"

Yes, they do grow relatively slow, anyway.

Its still a beautiful tree and the colour of the trunk.

Yes, it's a big, beautiful tree! It can be kept smaller, also.

It does have a very nice trunk.

I Have one..and saw a bigger one in town. I will post it.
Did you read Andy that those huge ancient ones at the Huntington have been removed from rot? Im sure they have plenty of near huge ones..but the oldest must not live much past 75?

Thats good they can be kept smaller.

Penny, yes it can be kept small in a pot.

Stan,

I didn't read about the rot of the large ones at Huntington. That's such a shame! I know they receive sometimes 4 to 5 times more rain out there than we receive here in San Diego. That can make a huge difference between life or death.

Thank you Andy.☺

Andy I thought you would get a kick out of this. You only have a 2.8 month warm season huh? Gee,that's half of Hayward's..according to them.
If it was only true.

I find it very difficult to believe considering I live here. LOL! Even though, the temps in summer are considerably higher here where I live than downtown San Diego. The problem with that information is that is really doesn't explain most of the climates where people live, as no one lives at the San Diego International Airport (Lindbergh Field). LOL!
