Red Admiral

I saw this whilst digging in the front garden, it was feeding on the flowers! I have never seen one at this time of year before, the warmth must have brought it out from hibernation.

That is early !

It was a wonderful sight and I did smile to myself but now I am worrying about the poor thing as they are forecasting snow again and the temperature has dropped alot since Tuesday!!! I hope it has found a sheltered spot.

must be warmer where you live than where i am!!

I was wondering today, what it would be like to live somewhere where you can be 80% sure what your weather is going to be like. I mean, we just never know do we....one day it is spring and warm, the next bitter cold and snowing, the next blowing a gale and horizontal rain. Do you remember last year it was warmer here in March than it was in Spain? It certainly keeps us guessing, but I sometimes wish it were a bit more predictable so we could make plans for BBQs and planting schemes etc. I'm getting tired of the constant 'surprises'!

another of those little surprises nature likes to give! do you ever feel its laughing at us?

i just thought ~ if we lived in the Antarctic we probably wouldnt have any surprises but im not sure i would like that!

OH blimey no! :S.....although...those penguins are very very cute!....and there are no Polar Bears.....and sometimes I'm sure our winds are just as cold as theirs!

23 Feb, 2013

i think the recent weather came from there!

did you see the programs on the penguins ~ on tuesday nights? they were brilliant!

I agree it would be nice to have weather that is a bit more predictable but at least we're not bored by it!
There is nothing I hate more than grey cold days. I must admit that I am ready to get going with the planting now, cleaned the greenhouse out last week, all ready to go!!

Yes, amazing what they go through to raise their young every year isn't it...but the best thing is when they slip and fall over...makes me lol!

Pam..feb. is a desperate month isn't it? It torments us with its snowdrops and crocuses, and then laughs at us with snow and arctic winds. February is the cruellest month of all. :(

I thought about those father penguins going without eating for 3 months while they look after the egg and then the tiny chick ~ can you imagine that happening in the human population??

Im sure I read somewhere February is cake month!!! That makes it sound better doesnt it? I made a 'self saucing jaffa pudding' last night!

Sounds just the ticket!
