For Scotsgran.Jack in the green Double Primrose

One I raised from seed a few years ago shows how the flower is enhanced by the Bracts

That is a beauty Brian. The green bracts certainly show the flower to best advantage. I'll post a pic of my Haquetia Epipactis as the bracts on it are different again.

I was at the Edinburgh srgc meeting tonight. It was a talk by Ian Christie of Kirriemuir on what we can expect in our gardens in the coming Spring. He startd by showing us his seeds and seedlings. Some of the pots were covered over with fleece - to stop the field voles getting at the seeds and seed pods on plants which had flowered. Apparently they will not eat through the fleece and if you cut it big enough it can be raised as the plants grow. I wonder if it will work for mice too.

Scotsgran
Thanks for that its worth a try.
Have you ever been to his garden,I visited it about 20 years ago I think it has grown since then.

I have not been but he showed photos and he said he has this constant need to add growing space. His first love is Galanthus and it was he who sold the £725.10 snowdrop on ebay last year. When asked if he had it in his garden, as he had been selling it for a friend, he assured us if we wanted one he would give us a big discount to only £725. He did not find any takers.
He is very excited by a perennial meconopsis which was found in the garden of a friend. It is fully double and not just a one off. The friend has had it for two or three years and it has retained its form. He did think it might revert but it has not done so. He is also a fan of corydalis which flowers over many months. He has a great selection grown from seed.

I was browsing the net the other day and here is a suggestion to keep slugs out of your pots. Spray all round the top of the pot with WD40. Be careful of the plants I don't think they would like it one little bit. Sorry I can't give a link because it only occured to me later that I should have taken a copy of the URL.
