The new (old) hall door

The new (old) hall door

The door has been hung! My OH put the framing & door in over the last weekend, as raining so could not work on getting our new garden shed put up. He still has to put up architraves, but we will need to find ones that match the rest of this Edwardian villa, so that might take a little while. The amber glass actually looks quite nice, but we will replace it at some point with stained glass ...tall arum lilies on clear glass background.

I like the shape of the windows ... They'll be nice when you have the new glass in them.
Someone is waiting to go out :o)

I love old doors like this, so much more character than boring plastic.I actually quite like the amber glass too. I agree with Bloomer, looks like the sun is shining. :)

Now that the door is in-situ, Waddy, I do rather like that amber glass too. It does give off a lovely sunny glow when the door is closed, even when the day isn't sunny ....that's due to having a big sash window directly in front of it a few feet away, in the dining area of the kitchen, & beyond that, there is the sun porch which is all glass & daylight. However, I do have a hankering for stained glass, so not sure what I will do. The arches at top of glass panels, match the arches in the back door leading from kitchen into sun porch. That door was got from the same renovation centre last year. But it has four narrower arched panels of glass, & they are clear ridged glass rather than amber. When I spotted this door for the end of hall, I knew it would work well with the kitchen door nearby.

Hywel & Katarina .....I had not even noticed the cats eyes glowing in the dimness of the hall! Lol. I read out your comments to my OH & said I did not understand what they meant. He stared at the photo for a moment, laughed & then said "Tammy". I stared at the photo too & then spotted those eyes! Very observant of the two of you! I am seriously impressed!
