The Brazilian tropical rainforest shrub grows very well in most low elevations of California. This one is growing happily in the Botanical Building, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. on Nov. 13, 2012.

I had two plants, years ago. They grew and bloomed very well up in the San Francisco Bay Area.
