I haven't seen this one before. Love honeysuckle. I have one in my driveway that smells so wonderful as we drive up. But it is quite invasive ..... Keeps creeping over my hebe & smothering in, so have to keep cutting it off. I would not be without it though.

Ours is enormous , will have to give it a prune next year in the spring, lovely perfume, one of my favourites...

Hello Dwyllis, nice to meet you! Yes I have this one growing in a very large pot outside a window, and is as tough as old boots! It roots well too, but really is the prettiest honeysuckle..It can get pretty invasive as I also have it growing against a wire fence where it runs wild.

Dotty we share many similar tastes in our garden my friend, lol..
I have several Honeysuckles in my garden including Hall's Prolific..(and oh boy it is!), but I do love this one..The leaves are incredibly soft, and I love the mottled effect. Thank you both for looking in on me and posting..\0/x

I like this one too,Flori..I wouldn't have thought of growing one in a big pot..that gives me and idea for my back fence..I can't plant next to it,as there is a path running the full length..plus we need access to paint it ..thanks for that,I like this colour Added it to faves,so I won't forget it's name :o) xx

Glad that I could help inspire Bloomer, lol..It seems to do really well in a pot and of course it is then restricted to how rampant it can grow.. Love the scent of this one too, but it is the golden colour that makes it shine, even in shade. \0/x

Does it need pruning on a regular basis,Flori? I've never grown Honeysuckle before..or would you lose the flowers by doing so ? ..I presume there is a right...and wrong time,to do that..

I tried this one, but it didn't like me. I think I had it in too cold and shady a spot. It did survive, but never thrived. Pity, as it is such a pretty one.

Bloomer, just did a little research for you, and you prune to tidy in March/early Spring. You also add fertilizer such as Osmocote or such like at the same time. Also found some trivia on Honeysuckles..Ancient folklore says if it is planted near doorways., it prevents Witches and Goblins entering, and brings good fortune. It is considered around the world to be a symbol of affection and devotion, and in Victorian times, young ladies were not permitted to use Honeysuckle as a cut flower indoors, as it was thought that its luscious scent would bring risqué dreams! lol..That explains that then..hahahahaha..\0/x

Ah Karen I'm sorry to hear that you had little success with this one. Mine is in light shade but near a stone housewall, and my rampant one is next to a wire fence in full sun. They will tolerate going down to -5.. They will usually suit all soils too.
Puzzled as to why yours reluctant to thrive..Such a pity as it is lovely..\0/x

13 Oct, 2012

13 Oct, 2012

It seems that way Bloomer..Yes that Ba is conspicuous by her absence isn't she? lol..And I had heard that about her wind..tee hee hee..You can get tablets for that nowadays so I've been told..(She is so gonna get me for this!)\0/x

Don't worry..I will be standing behind you :o)

13 Oct, 2012

No..I was thinking ladies first, wimps second..I insist you can go in front Bloomer..really I don't mind at all..hahahaha\0/x

14 Oct, 2012

How about a compromise,Flori? I suggest we link arms, and stand side by side..that way we might be able to deflect a flying trowel,or worse ! Lol :o))

15 Oct, 2012

Tee hee hee..Are you implying that she might be violent Bloomer? Nah! Not our Ba..OUCH! lol\0/x

15 Oct, 2012

Very pretty! Honeysuckle is a weed over here... pity...

Love the name too, it sounds yummy :o)

Hello Pip! How lovely to hear from you again! To be honest, Honeysuckle can become a bit of a weed here too, as it layers all too easily, but with such a gorgeous scent, it is worth putting up with all the little 'extras' you end up with..lol.\0/x
